Eastern Blooms Set

I am in love with this card! I have always liked Stampin' Up's Eastern Blooms and think it is a definite "keeper" of a set. This week I created a set of cards to give to my accountant when I went in to get my taxes done. I have to say, I've never looked forward to this appointment more than this year! Making a set of cards to spread my Stampin' Love definitely made this annual appointment a lot more enjoyable! And, the entire office was very happy to receive my little gift. They are always so sweet sending birthday cards, so I thought it was a great way to give back a little.

Here is the full set. I decided on some spring colors because I'm ready for some warmer weather. I used Baja Breeze, Pretty in Pink, So Saffron and Pear Pizzazz. I hope you liked looking and please leave your comments below. I love to read them all!

Birthday Cupcakes

Sometimes inspiration is just a catalog away! In the 2010-2011 Catalog and IDEA BOOK, page 130, you will find the card that gave me the inspiration for my card today. I didn't have the exact stamp sets, so I improvised, using Itty Bitty Bits and Fundamental Phrases.

I made my own pedestal (instead of stamping it) out of Early Espresso card stock, then matched the tiers using the same Dotted Scallop Ribbon border, which is cut in half for each tier. If you haven't used your Catalog and Idea book for inspiration, check it out. If you need a Catalog and Idea Book, you can add them to your Stampin' Up! order for 9.95 (122202) Use my website to place your order.

I love your comments, so please leave one!

PPA57 Sketch Challenge

This week's challenge is a sketch by Margaret Moody. She is fantastic at putting together our sketches! Take this any direction you wish, using any products you like. I can't wait to see what our followers come up with! Play with us at Pals Paper Arts!

I used the plaid from the Designer Series paper Pawsitively Prints II because it reminded me of school uniforms, and school is about to begin for many within the next week, if it hasn't already. Back in my day, we always had plaid skirts and I've seen a lot of plaid lately in the stores for their Back-To-School sales.

I hope you enjoy looking, thanks for stopping by and please do leave your comments--I love to read them all!

Pals Paper Arts #23

Happy New Year! I made this heart because there is a lot of love in our future in 2010. Our daughter is getting married.
I began with an inspiration from Stampin' Up's Stampin' Success Magazine for Demonstrators. There was a crown which had the same papers and similar embellishments. Here is how I made my project:

  • Stamped snowflakes onto Bride's Specialty paper with Versa Mark and heat embossed with Heat N Stick Powder, then sprinkled on Dazzling Diamonds glitter and shook off the excess. I cut the heart out of Bride's Specialty Paper, and also cut out another heart from some cardboard. I cut an additional heart shape of designer paper to cover the cardboard and ribbon hanger in back.
  • Used white crepe paper streamer to make a ruffle for around the heart. I stapled it every half inch to keep it together while i was making it, then taped it on with Sticky Tape. I adhered the designer paper using pop dots because the crepe paper ruffle is pretty thick.
  • To make the banner of fluff across the middle, I used a 1-1/2" piece of Bella Blue print and trimmed it with my Scallop Edge punch. I adhered another print behind it that was 2" wide. Behind that I adhered a horizontally cut piece of newspaper about 2-1/2 inches tall. I kept the scalloped edge away from the other two pieces of paper while I shredded them very thinly using paper snips. I mangled both edges (as well as the crepe paper ruffle) to keep a "vintage" feel.
My embellishments are:
  • Build-A-Brad I stamped with "2010" from the Calendar Alpha Numbers stamp set, stamped onto a white cupcake paper (crinkly and vintage-feeling) and backed with a Boho Blossoms punched piece of Bella Bleu paper
  • "Celebrate" from the Fundamental Phrases stamp set, also stamped onto a cupcake paper, cut out like a banner and matted with Kraft card stock. This was embellished with a rhinestone brad and a flower punched from Bella Bleu using the Boho Blossoms punch
  • One Snowflake punched piece of textured Bordering Blue was embellished with a Filigree Brad and both snowflakes have a butterfly from the *new* (available Jan 5th) Beautiful Wings Embosslit. The butterflies on either side of the Celebrate sentiment are also from the Beautiful Wings Embosslit.
  • Textured Bordering Blue Heart is another *new* Embosslit: Scalloped Heart of Hearts. It has another butterfly and also a bow tied in silver cord. The sentiment across the bottom is isolated from the A Brand New Year stamp and one word from Mark the Date stamped in Not Quite Navy onto Kraft.
Did I miss anything? Whew! It was involved, but fun and totally worth it! I hope you can be inspired by all things you see during your day and then take the time to create!

Pals Paper Arts #21

Winter Wonderland is our theme challenge this week at Pals Paper Arts! Play along!

I thought I'd do something *dazzling*, and I had all the supplies I needed from Stampin' Up! I began by stamping the trio of trees from Patterned Pines with Kraft White onto Basic Gray. I then applied Heat N Stick Powder (my first time!) and used my heat gun to make it sticky. I applied Dazzling Diamonds glitter, which is very fine and very dazzling when you use it! I then heat set that with my heat gun an voila! No glitter falls off the trees, which makes giving this card a treat! The sentiment is from the Fundamental Phrases set, stamped in Night of Navy to match the card base. I cut the bottom of the Basic Gray Top Note Die off, then added a Shimmery White die cut in it's place. A Bashful Blue taffeta ribbon covers my seam. I am very pleased with the sparkling trio of trees that is a result of trying something new!

If you are in need of any Stampin' Up! supplies to *dazzle* your holidays, please use my website to order.

Real Tempting Olive

I stepped away from Christmas crafts for a bit today. These gift cards were created around the colors from my Playground Designer Buttons.

The card on the left was just the stamped image from Love Bug (115233 Hostess Level 1) in Real Red.

  • I colored the caterpillar using my Stampin' Write Markers in Real Red, Tempting Turquoise and Old Olive.
  • The sentiment is from Fundamental Phrases, also stamped in Real Red. I took a Kraft corduroy button and colored it using my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker. I let it dry before attaching it with a Glue Dot.
The second card used three Playground Designer Buttons for some of the sections of the caterpillar and the sentiment is from Darling Dots in Tempting Turquoise.

  • A bit of Real Red Polka Dot Grosgrain finishes it off nicely. Cheerful little gift cards is what I was after, and I think these supplies definitely helped me accomplish that idea!

When you need Stampin' Up! items for your projects, I hope you will use my website.

Mojo Monday

I apologize for my photo. It's very foggy outside and I couldn't get a good/dry photo! So I relied on my backup plan, the dining room table with what little light is coming through the window. Mojo! It's fun, play along. The sketch this week seemed difficult, but I began with the circle area. I knew I wanted to use my Big Shot, so I ran the Sizzlets and Embosslits through for the snowflake and flower. I had a little bird leftover from deciding should the snowflake be Very Vanilla or Real Red? More Big Shot use for my strips using the dotted swiss Texturz Plate. Merry Moments background paper and an added sentiment which is not really part of the sketch, but I noticed the left corner seemed naked. I hope you enjoy. Please leave a comment so I know you were here. Happy Monday!

Shopping List:
Card Stock: Garden Green, Very Vanilla, Real Red
Designer Series Paper: Merry Moments
Stamps: Fundamental Phrases
Extras:  Heart 2 Heart, Word Window and Modern Label punches, Sizzlets Merry Details, Embosslits Flower Burst, Big Shot, Circle Rhinestone, Stampin' Dimensionals

Birthday Love

Awhile back I made this birthday card. I had some scraps left over and sitting on my desk and I am finally getting around to using them! Here is another birthday card, decidedly more feminine than the other one. All pieces except the sentiment were already sitting on my desk ready to be used. The sentiment is from two different stamps in the Fundamental Phrases set and I "accidentally" lined them up very close to one another, but I liked how they looked, so I kept them that way! I should have used my Stampa-ma-jig!

I hope you enjoy looking at my paper crafting and I hope you will leave a comment. I enjoy reading each and every one.

If you are in need of any Stampin' Up! supplies to create your greetings or gifts, please use my Demonstrator Website to order 24/7.

Stamps: Circle Circus, Fundamental Phrases
Ink: Bermuda Bay, Night of Navy

Have a great weekend!

Hello Friend

I had fun with this creation! My images from Pendant Park were already stamped and the colors chosen. All I had to do was matte them and arrange them and decide on cardstock colors! A snap!

My card base is 5" x 6.5" Very Vanilla to accommodate all of the images. The cardstock colors are Chocolate Chip, Always Artichoke and textured Crushed Curry. I used the Boho Blossoms punch to back my Playground Designer Button, which I placed above the sentiment. The tree needed a little something, since it wasn't matted, so I added Chocolate Chip Photo Corners (punch). To jazz up the strip at the bottom, I used some Fire Circles Rhinestone Brads. Voila!

Shopping List:
Cardstock: Very Vanilla, Always Artichoke, textured Crushed Curry, Chocolate Chip
Stamps: Pendant Park, Fundamental Phrases ("friend")
Ink: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Crushed Curry
Accessories: Circle, Photo Corner and Boho Blossoms Punches, Playground Designer Buttons, Fire Circles Rhinestone Brads

I would enjoy being your Stampin' Up! Demonstrator. To order, just click HERE.

Scene in a Garden

I used Scene in a Garden stamps to make this card. I cut out the table and popped it up with dimensionals.

I framed the three images and set them behind the popped up table, then matted the whole scene in Basic Black.

All images were colored by grabbing ink from the pad puddles with my blender pen. I enjoyed making this 3-D scene. Now I must go, my garden is calling....

Paper and Ink colors used: Basic Black, Whisper White, Soft Sky, Always Artichoke, Barely Banana.

Mojo Monday 83

Happy Monday!  Here is my submission for the Mojo Monday sketch #83.  I love playing along.  I used Real Red, Summer Sun, Basic Gray and Whisper White papers.  The gray is run through my Big Shot using one of the Texturz plates.  I used a pair of scissors to cut the scallop.  Stamps are Great Greetings, Cupcake Wheel, Fundamental Phrases and the heart is from the Yummy set.  Thanks for looking everyone.  I really appreciate all of your visits to see my creations and I love your comments, too!

Beachy Hello-Kwerner #47

Kwerner Challenge #47. I was in a swap and got the images from the "Just Beachy" stamp set. (Comes out in THREE DAYS!!) I used the
surf wagon and cut it out with my Nestabilities and layered it in
Chocolate Chip and added a flower brad for the wagon "dust." The cutout for the front of the card, needed a fill, so I made my own cardstock using a flower from the "Eastern Blooms" set and Tangerine Tango and So Saffron inks. Lastly, I added the sentiment from "Fundamental Phrases" and cut it out using my oval paper punch, then framed it with another paper punch in textured Tangerine Tango cardstock and popped it up with Stampin' Dimensionals. I used my Chocolate Chip Stampin' Write Marker to add the little dots. The stamp sets will be available on April 1st from the Occasions Mini. See other challenges posts at www.kwernerdesign.com
