Last month's Paper Pumpkin kit helped me make this alternative card. Alternative cards are when you don't use the instructions the kit shows you, but you go out on your own and create with the pieces in the kit. I don't usually do this, but here is an example of what you CAN create. I hope you like it and can see the quality of the kits! Also, kits are wonderful for taking on a trip or to a friend's house for crafting because all you have to have is a way to clean your stamps and a pair of paper snips, both of which will fit right into your box for travel!

I was inspired to make this card by one of the banners that was included in the August Paper Pumpkin card. I also used the stamp set Gather Together (available Sept 4) to decorate my Stitched Label.

Paper Pumpkin Cards - Sign Up for July's Kit

Purple Posy Sentimental Rose Thank You

The small flag behind the circles is from the April Paper Pumpkin Kit. I wrapped it with some leftover twine from an earlier Paper Pumpkin kit. I love using all of the embellishments at one time or another!

I hope you are not tired of seeing the April Paper Pumpkin stamp set Sentimental Rose yet! I am enjoying it and pretty soon it will be time to get my May Paper Pumpkin kit!

Above I combined the stamp images of the flower and leaves for my focal point. Underneath the smaller pieces is a layer of Whisper White card stock that I ran through my Big Shot using the Subtle Embossing Folder. It was stamped with one of the images from the stamp set using So Saffron and new In Color Purple Posy. The card base is also the new Purple Posy.

April Paper Pumpkin Alternative and Hugs From Shelli Inspiration

Today's card is bright an bold and beautiful! I learned this fold from Victoria Lozier, one of my fellow demonstrators in the Stampin' Pretty Pals. I recently swapped cards with her at On Stage and her card was folded like this one. I hadn't seen that fold before, so I had to make one!

I used the Distinktive stamp from the April Paper Pumpkin called Sentimental Rose. It's one of my favorite stamp sets since joining Paper Pumpkin years ago. 

The measurement for the Crushed Curry fold (base) piece of card stock is: 11" x 4-1/4". Then you score it at 1-1/2", 3", 
5-1/2" and 8". Add paper strips that are 1/4" smaller than each rectangular shape. The card base is one piece of Crushed Curry card stock (run through the Big Shot with the Subtle Embossing Folder) measuring 5-1/2" x 4-1/4". Making this card is a great way to use up scraps of (in this case retired) Designer Series Paper. Mix up your patterns and colors if you dare!

Paper Pumpkin Alternative Valentine

This design is an alternative to the instructions with January's Paper Pumpkin kit.

If you like crafting but don't have a lot of time to design, consider getting a pre-paid subscription to Paper Pumpkin from Stampin' Up! Kits arrive monthly right to your door and you can suspend you subscription if you'd like to skip a month at times. I love that everything is in the box except for scissors and stamp cleaner. 

See the curved sentiment on the flap? I bent the stamp onto the clear block to get this look.

You receive a small new stamp set each month! I love this month's because it is a fun set. Here I stamped the little reptile and then colored it using my Stampin' Blend (alcohol-based markers) and Stampin' Write markers. Then I cut out the critter and adhered it using Mini Stampin' Dimensionals. My card is a Narrow Note Card and it fits perfectly into it's envelope with my gift card. I used the sentiment "Happy Valentine's Day" from the January "Be Mine Valentine" kit, curving it onto my clear stamping block so it fit the curve of the outer envelope flap.

Be Mine Valentine Alternatives

January's Paper Pumpkin kit is called "Be Mine Valentine." It's intended to be 24 pillow boxes you can fill with treats and decorate using the enclosed stamp set and cut outs. Here I used the cut outs and those cute enamel hearts to decorate my Valentine Jelly Belly beans. I added my own Calypso Coral bow. I love all the bright colors together!

I didn't want to make pillow boxes this year, so I took the boxes (they arrive flat in the it) and cut off the curved ends and made a card front background. Then I added the cute kangaroo holding a heart. Again I chose bright Granny Apple Green Organdy ribbon, which I earned *free* from the Sale-A-Bration brochure with my $50 purchase.

My Core Group at Bible study are the lucky recipients of these sweet treats with colorful characters!

Bon Voyage - Paper Pumpkin Alternative CASE

I had two occasions to wish someone a "bon voyage" recently. Going on a cruise is one of my favorite things to do! I created this card by CASEing Suzanne Netz. The elements come from the April You Are My Anchor Paper Pumpkin kit. (I added the White Perfect Accents around the porthole.

Those little waves were created by using a stamp from the set and Night of Navy and Pool Party inks. I love this card!

Maritime Child's Birthday Card

With pre-0rdering available for the 2018-2019 Annual Catalog beginning, I am trying to decide which retiring items to keep and which to let go of. Several years ago, I chose to keep an unopened pack of Maritime Designer Series Paper. It was too cute and my granddaughter was about a year old. Now I have three grandkids and this paper will come in handy for sending them all kinds of greetings.

Letting go big time, I used almost an entire sheet of the paper to make an envelope with the Envelope Punch Board. I made the card slightly larger than my standard A2 card, so those little hands could open it easier. I love the color scheme of this paper, using Real Red, Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana.

If you didn't know, that print on the right side of the card is one I made myself using the You Are My Anchor stamp set from the April Paper Pumpkin kit. I used Mint Macaron ink since I don't have the returning Coastal Cabana ink just yet. I'm so happy that these two colors are coming back!

I also decided that I cannot let go of my Number of Years stamp set or the Large Numbers Framelits that are both retiring. Kids love to see their numbers on their cards, so they will be coming in handy often. You will see another number card on tomorrow's post, so please come back!

Paper Pumpkin Celebrates 5th Anniversary!

My card today was made as an alternate Paper Pumpkin card. The layout is exactly as the instructions indicate, however I used a different stamp set that wasn't a part of the monthly box.  This kit is from August 2017 and was called Giftable Greetings. There were 8 note cards and envelopes and the white oval in the center had pre-printed large words on it. Instead of using the printed side, I simply turned the oval over and used my Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set to stamp the sentiment I wanted. In a flash I had 8 sympathy cards on hand.
