Paper Pumpkin Celebrates 5th Anniversary!

My card today was made as an alternate Paper Pumpkin card. The layout is exactly as the instructions indicate, however I used a different stamp set that wasn't a part of the monthly box.  This kit is from August 2017 and was called Giftable Greetings. There were 8 note cards and envelopes and the white oval in the center had pre-printed large words on it. Instead of using the printed side, I simply turned the oval over and used my Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set to stamp the sentiment I wanted. In a flash I had 8 sympathy cards on hand.

Heartfelt Sympathy to the Rescue

It's not my favorite reason to make a card, but when I have to make a sympathy card I usually reach for Heartfelt Sympathy. Today's card was inspired by Julie Gilson. I basically used her layout and stamp set, but changed the designer series paper and embossing folder and bow. This layout would be excellent for any kind of card you make--a little banner, a little bow and a large sentiment.

The use of Powder Pink is so soft and elegant and really goes well with the script on the sentiment. Why don't I use the Bitty Bows more often?

Heartfelt Sympathy

Sympathy cards are hard cards to make. I rarely have one handy, as I prefer to make them especially for the specific person I'm sending them to. In this case, two of my friends lost loved ones in the recent weeks, so I made two of the same beautiful card.

It's not hard to put together a lovely card when you begin with the Detailed Floral Thinlits. They MAKE this card what it is. My standby Heartfelt Sympathy stamp set completes the card. In the middle I used the Smoky Slate gingham ribbon for a beautiful bow. The Basic Pearls and Clear Faceted Gems complete the elegant look.

You Are Stronger Than You Think

For today's card, I used the Annual Catalog to CASE the oval element on the card. I love having the catalog because it is endless inspiration. If you don't have all the supplies to make a card, just improvise or change it to create the card you need.

Coral Calypso Concern

I used Flirty Flamingo Ruched Ribbon and Enamel Shapes and Clear Wink of Stella to add a little sparkle. The Designer Paper is By the Shore. The doily is retired.

This card began because a blog reader asked me for dimensions on another card I did some time ago. The sentiment was stamped onto a circle and framed with another circle. So I grabbed the stamp set, any old ink color (Calypso Coral) and a piece of Whisper White card stock. I stamped the sentiment and then cut it out using the Circles Collection Framelits, cutting off just a little of the sentiment like my original. I used the next-t0-largest Circle. The frame in Calypso Coral was cut using the largest Circle.

After I emailed her all of the dimensions of the card, I had this beautifully stamped sentiment that was framed. I created the above card around that element.

Sympathy Card for PPA288

I had a great time using Amy Lazzell's sketch at Pals Paper Arts this week! I hope you will give it a try. There are so many stamp sentiments that could have fit into a circle for this card. I hardly ever had a sympathy card sitting around, and I find timing is of the essence when you want to send one, so I thought I'd make one ahead of need for once!

To take my circle sentiment to the next level, I added tiny blooms from Botanicals for You and then used my clear Wink of Stella to give them some sparkle. A tiny pearl went into the middle of each. The beautiful Mint Macaron matches one of the many colors in the floral Birthday Bouquet Designer Series Paper and adds a little richness and an antique look.

Catalog Case of Heartfelt Sympathy

 

Up until last week, I really only had one sympathy stamp set. That was fixed in fine order with the Heartfelt Sympathy set. There are two larger sentiments like the one above, and three smaller sets of words (more for the inside of a card), plus a tiny little flower stamp that matches the flowers on around the large sentiments.

If you look on page 27 of the Annual Catalog, you will see the card I CASED (Copy And Share Everything--a stamper's motto). They used different colors for their flags and may or may not have embossed the card itself. (I Bermuda Bay and Delightful Dijon for my flags).
