Happy Thursday! It's time to play at Pals Paper Arts! The challenge was huge for me. I don't do well with several shades of the same color. This is actually my second attempt at the challenge and no one will ever SEE my first attempt!!

I needed a sympathy card. I don't usually have these on hand since I like to make them particular to the person I'll be sending them to. I stamped the floral stem from Peaceful Petals onto Whisper White card stock using Jet Black Stazon. My Blender Pen and pools of ink came in handy for coloring the petals using Elegant Eggplant and Perfect Plum. The stems were colored using Garden Green.

My sentiments came from Thoughts and Prayers. I used my Perfect Plum Stampin' Write Marker to color just the parts of the sentence I wanted for each area of the card.

I added an Elegant Eggplant strip over the flower stem and under the first sentiment for balance. It's cut using the beautiful Finishing Touches Edgelits. Do you think it's balanced? I'm no art student, but it seemed to need something there! The pearls were added because I haven't used pearls in awhile :-)

I hope you enjoyed looking. I enjoy reading comments, so won't you please leave one for me? Don't forget to check out the Design Team cards for this challenge at Pals Paper Arts!

PPA213 Squares Sketch

This week's Pals Paper Arts Sketch lends to a QUICK and beautiful card! I first thought this would be hard, but after I figured out what size I wanted my squares, it was a piece of cake! My Pumpkin Pie card stock was cut into 2-1/4" squares. My Sweet Taffy designer series paper prints are cut to 2" squares.

The middle square is popped up on Stampin' Dimensionals and contains my sentiment stamped in Basic Black right onto the square PLUS my gorgeous Peaceful Petals bloom, which is stamped using Jet Black Stazon. I colored it using my Pumpkin Pie Stampin' Write marker and my Aqua Painter. The center of the flower is Daffodil Yellow and my stem and tiny leaves are Wild Wasabi. I snipped the bloom out of the Watercolor Paper and adhered it to my square using glue.

I hope you enjoyed looking. Won't you play along? Leave me a comment, too--I love them!

For all of your Stampin' Up! supplies, I hope you will shop in my Online Store.

Peaceful Petals Sympathy

It's sad when you have to make a Sympathy Card, but I'm glad Stampin' Up makes it a very easy task. There is a lot of love that goes into my sympathy cards.

You can see that I used my Aqua Painter to paint Hello Honey ink onto the flower from Peaceful Petals. The flower petals are stamped in Black Stazon onto Whisper White card stock and the leaves were stamped in Mossy Meadow. I used Mossy Meadow with my Aqua Painter to paint the leaves. I layered my sentiment and flower over a piece of Whisper White card stock that I cut out using the Large Scallop Edgelit. It is embossed with the Delicate Designs embossing folder.

The card base is Baked Brown Sugar layered with Whisper White and a print from Back To Black Designer Series Paper. At the top of the mats, I placed a horizontal knot using 5/8" Whisper White Organza ribbon.

I hope you liked looking today and that you will leave a comment.

PPA209 Sketch and Blog Candy Winner!!

It's not too late to play along with the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge! I got a little behind this last week due to vacation and I'm getting back on track!

I began by using this cut out flower from Peaceful Petals that was laying on my desk. It was already watercolored using Tangerine Tango ink. The center has Daffodil Delight colored onto it. I added pearls. For a leaf effect, I added a Pisatchio Pudding large Scallop Circle Punch, which fits perfectly behind the bloom.

"Caring Thoughts" was stamped from Flamingo Lingo using Tangerine Tango ink and I cut it out perfectly using the Bitty Banners Framelit. I mounted the bloom and banner onto a piece of Tangerine Tango designer paper from the Brights Designer Stack.

My next matt used the leaf from Peaceful Petals, which is stamped onto Whisper White using Pistachio Pudding ink. I cut the edges using the Rotary Trimmer with the Tiny Wave Cutting Blade. I added a Crisp Cantalope matt and then adhered my creation to a Tangerine Tango card base.

I'd love to read your comments and please tell me if you played along this week.

Peaceful Birthday and PPA Preview

Here is a birthday card that I made for a special friend. She makes lots of paper crafts for me, so I always try and make cards for her that are one-of-a-kind and special.

The Apothecary Art Framelit shape had already been cut out of the Wisteria Wonder half sheet. I used an Ovals Collection Whisper White piece to stamp my image from Peaceful Petals. I watercolored the image using my Aqua Painter with Wisteria Wonder, Pear Pizzazz and Soft Sky inks.

My sentiment is from the retiring Fabulous Phrases, a set I will surely miss! I punched it out using the Word Window Punch and framed it with a Wisteria Wonder Modern Label Punch. I placed it over a piece of Wisteria Wonder Chevron Ribbon and added two Basic Pearl accents.

I hope you liked looking at my card today. Thanks for visiting! Don't forget to leave your comments below. They make me smile!

Peaceful Petals Thank You

Ann Shach's February Lesson of the Month was another excellent teaching tool for this watercoloring newbie! I love her watercolor style and her teaching style! She is a retired teacher and you can tell she was a very prepared teacher. She gives you a full, printable tutorial as well as video links so you can see her making the cards she teaches every month. Plus you get a sample of each card. It couldn't be any easier and I am so thankful that I'm learning along the way. Ann has only a few spots left for her March Lesson of the Month, so if you are interested, stop by today!

You can tell that I'm a novice, as all of my petals are different, but I still keep improving. I love cutting out the blooms, since that means I can color outside the lines and not worry about it!

The blooms and stems were stamped onto Very Vanilla card stock versus water color paper, so they did curl up a bit due to getting wet. But I liked the effect--it made my card more
3-D! What do you think? I'd love to read your comments.

There are only a few more days to take advantage of Sale-A-Bration, where you receive a free item with EACH $50 purchase. Take advantage through March 31st.

If you are interested in getting started as a hobby or business Stampin' Up! Demonstrator, take advantage of receiving $150 in product (that you choose) for only $99! Offer good through March 31st. I'd love to have you join my stamping group! Details here.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch #194

At first I didn't know what to do with these colors. I sat down and knew my base would be Night of Navy and that I would be making a Scalloped Tag Topper card. Everything else came to me. I hadn't used my brand new Peaceful Petals stamp set yet. (It's part of Ann Schach's Lesson of the Month for February--I'll be doing my lesson later on in March)

I thought of cutting out the leaves in Smoky Slate, but then I noticed the beautiful leaves in this stamp set and thought they would look nice stamped in Smoky Slate onto Smoky Slate card stock. Then I used my Petite Petals stamps and my Petite Petals Punch and decorated those stems. Each stamped flower was backed with a punched flower in Wisteria Wonder.

I decided to make a dotted line toward the middle of the card so I can see where my writing needs to end. I don't want it to show when the card is closed. The "Thinking of You" sentiment is also from Peaceful Petals, and it shows when the card is tied closed using Silver 1/8" ribbon.

I hope you like what I made today. Won't you please leave a comment for me? Thank you! Have a great day!!
