Welcome Baby for PPA263

Thursday is Pals Paper Arts Challenge day! Please join the Pals by making your card using the colors here and then post it to our challenge blog.

I've had the pleasure of helping a few friends welcome their grandbabies lately. Grandparents deserve cards, too! I have wanted the stamp set Zoo Babies since it came out, but it always got bumped from my wishlist for other sets. Not any more! I finally ordered it last week and inked it up as soon as I unpacked it from the box!

I chose to let the bright colors speak for themselves--along with Mr. Hippo, Ms. Crocodile (Alligator?) and Mr. Elephant! No fancy embellishments necessary, although I did add some texture by using the Decorative Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder.

Please leave me a comment below. And if you know the difference between an alligator and a crocodile, you are smarter than I!

SPECIAL THANK YOU: All customers who place an order and receive free shipping  will receive a special card hand made by ME delivered separately from their order. You will be able to use the card whenever you like!

Inspired by Jeni Kunselman, I created this Baby Boy card. I used her layout, but different colors and designer series paper. She also die cut a bib, but I used the necktie instead. I love the combination of Smoky Slate, Tempting Turquoise and Daffodil Delight, so here is my card!

Hangar, onesie and tie are cut using the Baby's First Framelits and my Big Shot. The Ovals were cut from the Ovals Collection Framelits. The banners were cut using the Bitty Banners Framelits. What would I do without my Big Shot and framelits?? I put texture on the onesie with the Lucky Stars Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. The Whisper White Oval is textured using the Decorative Dots TIEF. I used prints from the Sweet Taffy Designer Series Paper. The knotted string is the blue color from Painted Blooms Cotton Twine.

Hello Baby is from Teeny Tiny Wishes. I used VersaMark and White Embossing Powder to make it pop off of the Smoky Slate card stock.

I hope you enjoyed looking! Please leave your comments below. I love reading them all.

Vintage Roses and Weekly Deals

The focal point of this card is the beautiful vintage roses laser cut element from the Artisan Embellishment Kit in the Occasions Catalog. The velvet ribbon is also from the kit! I love how it makes the card.

Here you can see that I made the laser cut a bit more special by daubing on some Champagne Mist to make it sparkle like the Brushed Gold card stock that is my card base. The dramatic effect against the Blackberry Bliss card stock is what makes this card special. My sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners. I stamped in Blackberry Bliss Ink onto Very Vanilla card stock and used the Bitty Banners Framelits to cut it out. Small Basic Pearls accent the edges.

Bonus: I get to use this scrap that I put under the laser cut when I daubed on the gold paint. I wonder what I will use it for?

Thanks for looking! Please leave your comments. I love to read them all.

PPA236 Sketch to Enjoy

The sketch by Kerry Willard Bray is a fun one, so I hope you will join us at Pals Paper Arts and play along by creating a card using the sketch as a starting point. Then, you can take a photo, post to a blog or gallery and upload your link on our blog. You'll by "playing" along and exercising your creativity!

I chose my color scheme from the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper. Using a Calypso Coral card base, I created a mat in Night of Navy and then gave it some texture using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and my Big Shot.

I really wanted to use the CUTE Calypso Coral Pom Pom Trim (new in the Occasions Catalog), so I made the horizontal line in the sketch with two pieces of it. I used Mini Glue Dots to adhere each pom pom. The Whisper White banner was created using the Mini Treat Bag Thinlits. "Enjoy" was cut using the same thinlit set and a Birthday Bash print. My teeny vertical flags were each cut from prints in the Birthday Bash paper. I used the Bitty Banners Framelits. The entire element was adhered using Stampin' Dimensionals to lift it over the pom poms.

Come back tomorrow. I will show the card that I made when I first sat down to make this one. I completely forgot that I needed to follow a sketch! I got all excited using this same color scheme and the Birthday Bash Specialty Designer Series Paper!! That's what happens when you haven't created in awhile ;-)

I hope you like my card! Won't you take a few seconds to leave me a comment? I love to read each one.

Ready With Thanks

This card is embellished with a snowflake from Frosted Sequins.

These first five card designs were whipped up in my studio so fast! I used the Trim the Tree Designer Series Paper Stack from the Holiday Catalog, some "thank you" themed stamp sets and a few embellishments. Each set of four cards went to a Facebook friend who had "signed up" with me at the beginning of the year for a Pay It Forward campaign. I'm hoping the recipients could use a few Thank You cards around Christmas time!

This simple beauty has a chevron piece from Essentials Wooden Elements.

This card features Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon.

I used the snowflake from Snowflake Card Thinlits Die and a Full Heart Punch to trim this sweater print.

This card has a Star Thinlit cut from Under the Tree Specialty Designer Series Paper. I added Linen Thread, a neutral Designer Button and "thank you" punched with the Bitty Banners Framelits.

This last card is special. My friend, Jacquelyn showed us how to make this during our mountain cabin getaway I mentioned yesterday. A simple, yet beautiful way to say "thank you!"

I hope you enjoyed looking and that you will leave a comment below.

PPA 221 Sketch Challenge

Time to play at Pals Paper Arts! This sketch by Nicole Watt is perfect to showcase any designer series paper. I used Gold Soiree. My card base is Whisper White with a layer of Pistachio Pudding that I embossed using the Decorative Dots Embossing Folder and my Big Shot.

I created a square from Whisper White, then laid down four 1" squares onto Postage Stamp-punched Calypso Coral card stock. There are three different prints from the DSP and then one stamped image from Something to Say.

Across the bottom I used the Snowflake Card Thinlit and the Bitty Banners Framelit as a base for my Itty Bitty Hearts. I accented each one with a Basic Pearl.

The inside has a simple greeting made of the "other half" of the stamp sentiment and one more from the set "congratulations."

I hope you enjoyed looking and are inspired to play along with us! Your comments make me smile!

Gift Bag Tag

Happy Day! A friend is celebrating a birthday and I love using these Chevron Tag a Bag Gift Bags. They go with any color scheme and hold a variety of items like gifts or treats.

Who says Wondrous Wreath is only for Christmas? I stamped the bottom layer of leaves in Pistachio Pudding ink, the next layer in Calypso Coral (stamped off) and then the berries in full on Calypso Coral. I cut the wreath out perfectly by using the Wonderful Wreath Framelits Dies. My sentiment is from Flamingo Lingo. It's cut out perfeclty using Bitty Banners Framelits. I tied a piece of Cotton Ribbon in a knot and then added a Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon tie over the knot. Isn't it pretty?

Thank you for visiting today! I hope you will take a moment to leave a comment. The comments keep me going!

PPA209 Sketch and Blog Candy Winner!!

It's not too late to play along with the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge! I got a little behind this last week due to vacation and I'm getting back on track!

I began by using this cut out flower from Peaceful Petals that was laying on my desk. It was already watercolored using Tangerine Tango ink. The center has Daffodil Delight colored onto it. I added pearls. For a leaf effect, I added a Pisatchio Pudding large Scallop Circle Punch, which fits perfectly behind the bloom.

"Caring Thoughts" was stamped from Flamingo Lingo using Tangerine Tango ink and I cut it out perfectly using the Bitty Banners Framelit. I mounted the bloom and banner onto a piece of Tangerine Tango designer paper from the Brights Designer Stack.

My next matt used the leaf from Peaceful Petals, which is stamped onto Whisper White using Pistachio Pudding ink. I cut the edges using the Rotary Trimmer with the Tiny Wave Cutting Blade. I added a Crisp Cantalope matt and then adhered my creation to a Tangerine Tango card base.

I'd love to read your comments and please tell me if you played along this week.

Eastern Elegance Get Well

I'm so sad that Eastern Elegance Designer Series Paper is retiring and I did not get full use of my package! I love the colors and the femininity of this beautiful paper, but I just didn't use it all up YET.

I needed a couple of Get Well cards, so I chose this Tea Party stamp set (also never-used!) and then replaced the sentiment on the image stamp with the sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes that I stamped onto a Bitty Banner.

At the very beginning of creating this card, I accidentally scored on the wrong line! So I just made up the difference on the right side of the card with a smaller strip. I decorated it with a piece of DSP that I had trimmed with the Scallop Border Punch. All is right with this accidental fold.

Having so much fun creating after so long, I leisurely stamped the teapot of flowers from Tea Party onto the inside panel for a little extra touch. I used Smoky Slate, Pistachio Pudding and Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Markers to color directly onto the rubber stamp. I like how the teapot looks like an antique silver pot.

One more close up of the "tag" I made. It's a Chalk Talk Framelit in Smoky Slate, layered with the two different stamped and die cut/paper-snipped images. I colored the flowers with Crushed Curry Stampin' Write Marker. The Crushed Curry lace border that I "pearled" is another image form the stamp set that I cut a bit shorter than it really is. The rich ribbon is the NEW Hello Honey In Color in 3/8" stitched satin, which is very close to the Crushed Curry color.

Thanks for looking and visiting today. I hope you will leave your comments below. I love reading them all.
