Heartfelt Thanks

Happy Friday! Today I'm sharing a 'thank you' card that I made. It's full of hearts, too! I began by embossing the sentiment shape from Pretty Petites onto Calypso Coral card stock using VersaMark and White Embossing Powder.. Then my project "grew" by matting it with a Basic Black Full Heart and then a Vellum card stock piece that was dry embossed using the Happy Heart Textured Impressions Embossing Folder. I matted that with a Calypso Coral piece of card stock and anchored the edges using black Candy Dots. I added some Stacked With Love DSP Itty Bitty Accent Hearts. They are popped up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

All those layers were added to another Stacked With Love print and tied with a slender Chevron Ribbon in Calypso Coral. My card base is Basic Black.  I love how this turned out. What do you think? Please leave me a comment, I love to check in and see if anyone commented!

Building Block Birthday

Yippee-Skippee!! I tried the Building Block Card and I LOVE how easy it is. It's almost a gift in itself, so if you need a card for a very special person, this is the card. You can see the tutorial here.

On these "blocks" in the middle of the card, you can be very creative. Some people have written words using letter stamps or stickers. I decorated mine with a variety of stamps and the bicycle images to match the front. The Birthday Basics Designer Series Paper is one of my favorites because it uses a lot of different color combinations and graphics. The Pedal Praise stamp from a My Paper Pumpkin is perfect to blend with the Bicycle images on one of the DSP sheets.

I let the sentiment on the XL Decorative Label punched in Summer Starfruit sticks out a little, but that's okay because this card is a bit slimmer than a regular A2 card when it's folded up.

I hope you enjoyed this Birthday Card today and that you will try one yourself. Please let me know what you think in my comments section :-) I love reading each one and they make me smile!

50th Birthday Party in a Box!

I found this tutorial through Heidi Baks' blog post from last week. It's like a party in a box! I had to give it a try for my sister's 50th birthday that is coming up next month. I used retired designer series paper because it was my second try (first try I made it upside down!)

I added a piece that says, "Make A Wish" and propped it up on a piece of Window Sheet. It folds down so it fits inside the card when it's closed. She will have to unfold it and uncrease it a bit for display.

I used that sentiment  because my sister and I used to watch "Make A Wish" with Tom Chapin on Saturday mornings. Do you remember the show? Answer in my comment section--let's see how many of us are of a certain age out there!

If you follow the tutorial, your card will be larger than an A2 card. If you want it to fit into an A2 envelope, follow the same steps EXCEPT:

  • Cut your card stock 4-1/4" x 12 instead of the size listed
  • After scoring (same place as instructions) and rotating 90 degrees, score at 1-3/4"
  • For the inside strips on my box (I used 3) I cut them 1" wide and 3-3/4" long. I scored them at 1/2" on both ends
Hint: I found that using Tombow glue for the strips was easier than using Sticky Strip. The glue dries pretty quickly.

There really is no end to how you can embellish this "box" and send it along for any special occasion. It's like a gift in itself!
Thanks for stopping by today. You can click on any of the products above and arrive at my Online Store for easy ordering.

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

Happy Thursday! Welcome to the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge. We'd love for YOU to play along by creating using our colors:

These colors were hard for me! Can you tell which color I love best? Pool Party! Even the name is great! I began with a Whisper White card base and a layer of Primrose Petals card stock. Over that I layered a Pool Party piece of card stock that was embossed in my Big Shot using the Stripes Embossing Folder. (I always want to call this the "lines" folder?) I layered another piece of Whisper White embossed card stock to "hold" my images, which are from the Spring Sampler stamp set in the Spring Catalog. They are framed using the Silver Soda Pop Tops! They are so shiny--I just love them. To add more texture to my Primrose Petals images (rainy cloud, rain boots and umbrella) I colored them with Dazzling Details and let them dry before punching them out with my 1" circle punch.

The tag that is added at the bottom of the card and tied on with Pool Party Baker's Twine is stamped in Craft White using the Pretty Petites Stamp Set and Primrose Petals card stock, then embossed with White Embossing Powder. I used the Petite Curly Label punch to punch it out perfectly. The stamp set and coordinating punch are from the Sale-A-Bration brochure.

Where is the REAL RED, you ask? I colored the little heart on the tag with my Real Red Stampin' Write Marker!

I hope you have a great day, and thanks for stopping by! To order your Stampin' Up! supplies, please use my website. Don't forget I have some gift cards for sale!
