PPA244 For A Baby Boy

Baby shapes! I love my Baby's First Framelits, but I really had to dust them off. It's been awhile since I celebrated a baby. Summer is coming and I am "expecting" quite a few births in families around me. This one is for a boy due next month. I didn't use the coordinating stamp set for the framelits, but I used Label Love--another dusty item in my stash! I isolated the word "baby" from one of the stamps using my Marina Mist Stampin' Write Marker. I snipped out the shape using my Paper Snips.

My background paper is from the Subtles Collection Designer Series Paper Stack. I matched those dots with the Perfect Polka Dots Textured Impressions Embossing Folder down the center on Whisper White card stock. 

My focal point is the buggy from the Framelits using another DSP stack print. I added Marina Mist Baby's First booties and a Marina Mist star from the Itty Bitty Accents Punch Pack. All three items were accented with a Whisper White Candy Dot. My last embellishment is a Marina Mist Cotton Ribbon knot around the handle of the buggy.

Last Minute Gift Card Holders

These gift card holders are a SNAP to make! Just die cut TWO of the smallest Envelope Liners in paper of your choice. You can use Designer Series paper (I used Trim the Tree), card stock or Specialty Paper (I used Under the Tree).

Glue around three edges. Fold down flap on top piece.

This is my last "fall" card. It's for a very special person, my upline, Mary Fish from Stampin' Pretty. Mary is a very encouraging person. She's generous and friendly to all people who come into her life. She is a person I admire and look up to, have fun with and love to be around. Her birthday was Saturday, so I sent this card which I made especially for her.

I love how the Artisan Label and Label Bracket punches go together, so I stamped my sentiment from Label Love onto one and framed it with the other.

My leaf was cut from a burlap scrap using the Autumn Accents Bigz Die. There is a Very Vintage Button tied with Linen Thread on top of the leaf. Both elements are mounted on a horizontal piece of 1-1/4" Burlap Ribbon. The designer paper underneath the elements is from Color Me Autumn.

Treat Box Project

This is a Stampin' Up! Gift Card Enclosure that I jazzed up and re-shaped thanks to a post by Patty Bennett. She showed how to score 1/2" outside the pre-scored lines on three sides of the box and then use a 3" x 10" "belly band" of Park Lane Designer Series Paper to decorate. I also used half of a Tea Lace Doily to decorate the un-scored side, which is now the top of my box. 

After you form the box, you can decorate with any punched item. Here I used a Chalk Talk Framelit to cut a shape in Whisper White, then added an Artisan Label shape which perfectly cuts out a Label Love sentiment. I stamped it twice, cut the middle out of the Whisper White one and added it to the one stamped on Daffodil Delight card stock. I took the extra Whisper White pieces and added them on the top and bottom of my Chalk Talk shape. I added pearls. 

There is a ribbon tied horizontally underneath my tag. Inside my box, I added some retired Gold and White Waffle Paper. 

This was designed as a treat box, but I'm going to use it to tuck in some Stampin' Up! product when I give it to someone. What would YOU put in there? I'd love to read your answer in my comments!

Birthday Quarter Fold Card and Pals Paper Arts Preview

Hi friends! Sorry it's been so long again. I've made a lot of cards, etc. but now am short on time to post them! This week should be good for me getting those up! 

Above you will see a Birthday Quarter Fold card. It's SO easy. The tutorial is on Splitcoast. I watched the video twice, printed out the directions and had this baby ready to mail in minutes! I'm sure that in the future I will jazz up my quarters even more, but this card is a good place to start!

PPA212-Label Love Sketch

I am so pleased with this week's PPA Sketch Challenge card! I love the colors, the Flowerpot Designer Series Paper and the "elements" I made by just cropping out a flower using a 1" circle punch! This card was done in record time! No ribbon or buttons, nothing fancy at all, yet it looks like I spent a lot of time on it.

Piano Birthday

My oldest son plays piano. His playing has always brought such joy. Last year when I attended Convention, I got a card as a swap from Jeri Holm. I kept out so I could make one just like it. I'm giving this card to my son for his birthday this month.

This card went together fairly quickly and I only swapped out Jeri's Real Red for my Cherry Cobbler. 50th Birthday Party in a Box!

I found this tutorial through Heidi Baks' blog post from last week. It's like a party in a box! I had to give it a try for my sister's 50th birthday that is coming up next month. I used retired designer series paper because it was my second try (first try I made it upside down!)

I added a piece that says, "Make A Wish" and propped it up on a piece of Window Sheet. It folds down so it fits inside the card when it's closed. She will have to unfold it and uncrease it a bit for display. 

I used that sentiment  because my sister and I used to watch "Make A Wish" with Tom Chapin on Saturday mornings. Do you remember the show? Answer in my comment section--let's see how many of us are of a certain age out there!

If you follow the tutorial, your card will be larger than an A2 card. If you want it to fit into an A2 envelope, follow the same steps EXCEPT:

• Cut your card stock 4-1/4" x 12 instead of the size listed
• After scoring (same place as instructions) and rotating 90 degrees, score at 1-3/4"
• For the inside strips on my box (I used 3) I cut them 1" wide and 3-3/4" long. I scored them at 1/2" on both ends

Hint: I found that using Tombow glue for the strips was easier than using Sticky Strip. The glue dries pretty quickly. 

There really is no end to how you can embellish this "box" and send it along for any special occasion. It's like a gift in itself!

MOJO327--Cutest Baby Ever

I needed a baby card for a shower on Saturday and I knew my color scheme (it matches a blanket I made for Olivia) but I had no idea for a layout. That's when I decided to pay attention to this week's Mojo Monday sketch by Julee Tilman.

My card base is Whisper White, covered with a Baked Brown Sugar Designer Series Paper Stack print. Next I layered a piece of Whisper White down the left side that is die cut with the Large Scallop Edgelit and embossed with the Delicate Designs Embossing Folder.

My sentiment is stamped onto Whisper White in Blushing Bride and then punched out with the Artisan Label Punch. I stamped it again onto Whisper White using Pistachio Pudding ink and then hand-cut the scalloped middle and used a Stampin' Dimensional to pop it up over the label.

Instead of putting a little punch or banner under the middle element of the card, I extended this Designer Frame past the bottom of it. The hearts on the sketch became butterflies from the Elegant and Bitty Butterfly punches and the Beautiful Wings Embosslit. The Pistachio Pudding and Blushing Bride card stock butterflies were embossed with the Perfect Polka Dots and Delicate Designs Embossing Folders for more texture. Basic Pearls further dress up my butterflies for Olivia.

Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge

Hello friends! I am glad you came by today. I am already thinking of thanking gift givers after Christmas. (I have already received/opened a couple of gifts-tee hee!). With that in mind, I used the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge to make a Thank You card! (Remember, our sketch is just a starting point!)

I thought that making those stripes would be hard. I chose a size I wanted to make that part of the sketch. Then I laid two pieces of paper on my work surface that were that size, one on top of another, opposite prints facing up. I placed a ruler over the image and used the dots on the top pattern for my angle. Using a pencil, I drew my cut lines. Since the pieces of paper were small enough to keep tight in my hands, I used my Paper Snips to cut across the pencil lines. I chose which sides to use and lined them up. I taped the seams on the back, and then adhered them to an Early Espresso piece of card stock for a frame. The DSP is from the Season of Style Designer Series Stack. This pack was so popular it is back-ordered through January.
