Butterfly Basics Birthday

Today's card is for my aunt for her birthday. She and my uncle have been going through a rough time the past six months, so I wanted to take a little extra time to make a card that she would really like.

I used a square framelit to cut out the frame for my masterpiece. I did this by cutting one square near the fold and then re-cutting another square near the opening edge. Does that make sense? The end result is a rectangular window in my card front.

My flowers were colored using Stampin' Blends in Calypso Coral and Old Olive.

I fussy cut the small butterfly and the fern and flowers. The large butterfly was cut using the Butterflies Thinlits. My butterflies were stamped using Crushed Curry ink.

I hope you like my project today. Please leave me a comment so I know you were here.

Golden Butterfly Birthday

Excitement has been building over the past few weeks as Stampin' Up! Demonstrators were allowed to look at the upcoming Annual Catalog 2017-2018 online! It arrived in the mail just yesterday and I had it spiral bound so I could look it over many, many times over the next year!

One of the best things about having the catalog is getting inspired by all the samples. This stamp set is not new, but the card shown on page 149 IS a new way of using it. I love the gold, black and white embossing powder on the Crumb Cake card stock! My card is a little different shape, but the same stamps and techniques.

Doesn't the White embossing powder remind you of lace? I love this neutral color scheme! It makes for a beautiful birthday card for someone special.

Thank you for looking. I hope you will take a moment to leave me a comments. Don't forget to check out my Online Store for all of the Clearance Rack and Retiring Items, some at sale prices! Snap them up while you can!

Sending Butterfly Wishes

Butterfly Basics stamp set is a great set that can give you many different looks on your cards or scrap book pages. I also like it because the sentiment "sending wishes your way" could be sent for many different occasions. I love the above example by Debbie Crowley (expressivelydeb.com). It's very quick to put together, yet lends itself to give to someone very special!

Making this card using different color schemes would be fun. Make a set of all different colors to give as a gift!

Thanks for looking today. I hope you come back again soon. Consider signing up to receive an email each time I post. Use the link on my sidebar, then confirm your request from your inbox.

Wetlands Birthday Jar

I've been CASEing card this week! It's an easy way to complete a stack of cards to have on hand. No time is spent figuring out what to make, just Copy And Share Everything!

My card base color is Island Indigo, even though I think the photo shows more of a blue color than II is in person. The stitches are "faux" unlike the real stitches on page 133 of the Annual Catalog. I've wanted the Wetlands stamp set for a long time, and I finally ordered it last year, however this is the first time I've inked it up! I know how versatile this set is and I do believe it will be one of the ones I keep even when it retires!

Thank you for looking today. I hope I inspired you to get out your stamps, ink them up and make a card! Let me know what you think in the comments! I love to read them all.

Basic Butterfly and Vellum for PPA257

This beautiful Butterfly Basics card was created for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge using the sketch above. Consider joining the Design Team and making a card based on this sketch. Simply upload your card (linked to your gallery or blog) and you will be "playing" along! Each week we choose three of our favorites and show their photos on the blog the day before each new challenge. You could be picked!

The base of my card is Pink Pirouette. I used my (retired--oops! I missed this one) Spring Flowers Textured Impressions Embossing Folder on Vellum for my next layer. Beautiful! My Whisper White 2-1/2" circle has a sentiment from the Butterfly Basics stamp set, which I stamped in Watermelon Wonder. It's placed over the slightly askew 1-1/4" Jute Ribbon. My last elements are a Bitty Butterfly (stamped in Pink Pirouette onto Whisper White and adorned with pearls) and a Watermelon Wonder 1-1/4" Scallop Circle with a Petite Petals Flower also covered in Vellum and adorned with a rhinestone. I rarely use both pearls and rhinestones on one card, but I couldn't resist!

What do you think? Please leave your comments--I love reading them!

Sending Butterfly Wishes

Happy Friday! I hope your weekend is already starting. This card is the third card we made in my April Workshop. I used a sample from the March/April issue of Stampin' Success magazine, which all Stampin' Up! demonstrators receive free. There are always usable ideas in there. I changed the colors and the shape of the card and I left off one layer on the butterfly.

I love all of the shine on this card, made possible by the Gold Embossing Powder with a sentiment from Butterfly Basics and the medium-sized Butterfly Thinlet cut out of Gold Foil Paper.

Two other gold items are the Gold Mini Metallic Clothespin and the smaller butterfly, die cut from the Fancy Foil Designer Vellum. I was able to die cut it and leave one heart in the middle.

I like all of the layers on this card. The Typeset Specialty Designer Paper was cut to 1 x 5" and then I made a banner on the bottom. The Melon Mambo banner was cut using the Banner Framelits. After I assembled the layers, I used the postmark stamp from Butterfly Basics with Jet Black Stazon  for an authentic-looking postmark.

Butterfly Basics Bundle

Thursday's post had my first April Workshop card to show you here. Here is the second card. I used Butterfly Basics and the Butterfly Thinlits. Coincidentally Stampin' Up! is offering the Butterfly Thinlits dies at a discount through April 30th. They are only $21.20, which is 15% off. Plus, you get to choose one of three Sale-A-Bration products as a bonus. The thinlits are again available for shipping and this is how Stampin' Up! is celebrating this very popular item.

I love the three different sized options in the Butterfly Thinlits. Here, I have heat embossed the medium-sized butterfly stamp from Butterfly Basics onto vellum with White Embossing Powder. I layered it over a Crisp Cantaloupe die cut and it looks so delicate. I used a Glue Dot to hold it on.

I used a Stampin' Dimensional to pop up the postmark stamp after punching it out with the 3/4" Circle Punch. At the bottom, I added a knot with Crumb Cake Seam Binding Ribbon.

I hope you enjoyed looking today. Thanks for stopping by. Before you leave, won't you leave a comment for me? I love to read each one!

Previewing Occasions Catalog for PPA 233

Yesterday's Pals Paper Arts Challenge was this fun sketch. I approached it before Christmas, and it reminded me of a fallen Christmas tree! I chose not to make a Christmas card and to post one day after the challenge. I am using *NEW* stamps that will be available on January 6th in the Occasions Catalog.

This lovely set, called "Butterfly Basics" has ELEVEN stamps! It is a very versatile set and goes well with the Butterflies Thinlits (also new). The first and second butterflies (L to R) are cut using the new die. The third butterfly is a stamp from the stamp set that I punched out with the Bitty Butterfly punch.

Those cute little circles are punched 1/2" around sweet little flowers from the stamp set. The sentiment is stamped in Lost Lagoon onto Lost Lagoon card stock. The sweet button in the upper left corner is from the new Sweet Dreams Designer buttons.

I'd love to read your comments if you leave one below.

Birthday Sneak Peek with Butterfly Basics

Christmas is wrapped up for now and I'm on to Birthdays, one of which is the day after Christmas. My sister-in-law is a busy physician and I like to take the time to make her cards and get them to her on time. I know that having a birthday right around Christmas is hard because a lot of times people forget or they give a gift that serves both dates. I like to make her feel special by hand-crafting a card for her special day and making sure it's in her hands on time!

This card is made with a brand new set (available January 6, 2015 in the new Occasions Catalog) called Butterfly Basics. It has ELEVEN stamps, and will prove to be very versatile!

Here I only used two of the stamps, one sentiment and the lovely butterfly.  The sentiment peaks from under the Oval Framelit cut out on the Crisp Cantaloupe Decorative Dots Embossed frame.

The butterfly is stamped onto Vellum using VersaMark and then it's embossed with White Embossing Powder. I cut it out using the new Butterflies Thinlits (a set of three), also available January 6th. Isn't it lovely?! It looks like lace.

I tied a bow using Calypso Coral Seam Binding Ribbon and adorned it with one of the new Sweet Dreams Button (also from the Occassions Catalog). Over the button a I placed a white Baker's Twine bow, adhering it with a rolled Glue Dot.

Because of the bow on the side, the card would not slip into a regular A2 envelope, so I used a piece of Designer Series Paper and created a custom envelope using the Envelope Punch Board. I'm learning to let go of some of my stash of Designer Series Paper by using it to line envelopes or make the envelopes from scratch. Such a personal touch and SO quick and easy!

I hope you enjoyed looking. Please leave your comments--they are like a gift to me!
