PPA133-SKETCH!

Hello everyone! Welcome to the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #133-Sketch by Margaret Moody!

My colors were chosen with this print from Summer Smooches designer paper in mind. I was not sure what to do with the circle part of this sketch, and then I took another look at the Paper Doily Die and thought if I snipped the inner circle out, I'd have the perfect size for my square card! It worked out perfectly. Instead of using paper elements for my vertical strips, I used two colors of seam binding and tied them up with knots.

Banner end was created using my (retired) photo corner punch. Notice my sentiment? It is from a soon-to-retire stamp set called "Grateful Greetings." If you must have this set, you must purchase it before May 31st! (116511 $36.95) There is a host of sentiments in this set for Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and Valentine's Day. Click HERE to see 14 cards/projects I made using this set.

Consider playing along with the Pals! We'd love to see what you do with this week's sketch!

Memento Photo Book

Happy Weekend! I created this last weekend, after taking one peek at Amy Celona's 6 x 6" books. I got so excited! I knew that I wanted to make my book with the stamps and papers from the upcoming Sale-A-Bration brochure. The Fresh Vintage Stamp set and the Everyday Enchantment Designer papers coordinate beautifully and use the colors Lucky Limeade, Pool Party, Peach Parfait, Calypso Coral, Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla and Soft Suede.

I began by creating this lovely element for my cover using the Designer Frames Embossing Folder. I used my sponge dauber and Crumb Cake ink pad to gently distress my edges and then framed the oval with 5/8" Victoria Crochet that I pleated. I used the P. S. I Love You (Occasions Mini) stamp for my sentiment. Then I added the flowers, stamped and snipped closely from Fresh Vintage. The hearts are punched with the small heart punch and along with the flowers are adorned with pearls.

This page is the first page and you could add a Framelit for journaling, or a photo. Also, the front cover could be inscribed with the name of your recipient.

The left page would be great for a photo and the right page would be nice for journaling or adding a memento.

The top page would be great for a larger photo, while the bird page would hold a smaller photo.

These last two pages are perfect for journaling and placing mementos into the pocket created by folding the designer paper down.

Here you can see how I scored a 1/8" edge on the front cover so that I could have lots of depth to my pages without them getting crushed.

I hope you enjoyed my project. You should create one of your own. Pick a color scheme or base it on a Designer Series Paper pack and matching stamp set and very quickly and inexpensively, you have a lovely gift.

Happy Halloween

I hope you have a safe and fun Halloween! I like to hand out candy and see the costumes, so I will be home waiting for the doorbell to ring!

Can you see how I made my "bat" from ribbon? I simply tied a small piece of Stampin' Up's 1/2" Scallop Dots ribbon (Basic Black) into a knot and made sure that there were two white dots where the eyes would be. I blacked out the rest of the dots on the "face" with a black Sharpie, and cut the edges of the wings to look bat-like. You like? Leave me a comment.

Card Stock: Cajun Craze, Basic Black, Whisper White, Basic Gray
Designer Series Paper: Frightful Sight
Stamps: Grateful Greetings, Tiny Tags
Ink: Cajun Craze
Markers: Cajun Craze, Basic Black
Accessories: Square Scallop Punch, 1/2" Circle punch, Glitter Brad, Big Shot, Backgrounds 1 Texturz Plates, Stampin' Dimensionals

Don't have too much candy/sugar tonight! If you need any Stampin' Up!, I'd be happy to answer your questions, and you can order any time using my Website.

PPA111 - Sketch

Hello, and welcome to the Pals Paper Arts Challenge #111- Sketch by our Design Team member, Margaret Moody. Her sketches really get you going, so I hope you'll take full advantage and play along with us!

I wanted to use my brand new package of Spice Cake designer series paper, so I cracked it open and began with the Pool Party print for my background, which I cut to fit the Crumb Cake card base.

For the #4 piece of the sketch, I decided to matt another print from Spice Cake using More Mustard. To add interest, I tied a piece of Pool Party 3/8" ruffled ribbon in a knot and placed it around the bottom of the element. On the top, I placed the sentiment from "Grateful Greetings." It is stamped and matted with Crumb Cake.

Instead of a ribbon or border punch across the upper section, I punched and trimmed the branches from the Bird Builder punch. I used More Mustard and Crumb Cake card stock.

For the three elements in the upper left corner, I used Square Fire Rhinestone Brads in the Pumpkin color. I placed them by using my Paper-Piercing Tool and Mat Pack. This insures that they are placed in a straight line and each is the same distance from the other.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my card and that you will leave feedback for me!

Thank you to all of you who ordered my Countdown Calendar Kits! I had fun putting your kits together. I do have a few more if anyone else is interested.

If you need any Stampin' Up! supplies to finish your products, I hope you will use my Website to order 24/7.

Pals September Blog Hop - "Halloween and Fall"

You've likely hopped over from Jeanne Norris at My Creative Impressions, I'm stop number TWO on the Pals Hop and I'm glad you hopped in!

I'll help you "hop along" from blog to blog where you'll find great ideas for Fall and Halloween paper projects from the Stampin' Pretty Pals! Should you hop off course, simply click on any of the links in the Pals Hop Line-up below and you'll be back on track!

My project for this month's Pals Blog Hop is a Halloween-themed treat favor. I began with a Frightful Sight designer series pattern that was die cut in my big shot using the Top Note Die. I cut it down the middle length-wise, then inserted each side into a folded Old Olive Top Note die cut.I wrapped just the front with a Basic Black 3/8" grosgrain ribbon and knotted it.

I added the sentiment from Grateful Greetings using Stampin Write markers: Basic Black and Cajun Craze. My tags are Jewelry Tags that are decorated with a tiny pumpkin from one of the prints on the Frightful Sight designer series paper and "Boo!" from Tiny Tags stamp set. They aretied on with Linen Thread. The left side of the treat cover has a punched out spider (Frightful Sight) that is set off-center of a Basic Black mat.

Inside is an individually-wrapped, chocolate dipped Biscotti! YUM.

I hope you enjoyed looking at my project! Please hop along for more inspiring ideas from Melanie Collins at Oops A Daisy, stop number THREE on the September Pals Hop! Thanks for "hopping" by!

Fall Trio #2

I promised you a second Fall Trio, and here it is! I hope you enjoy looking. Let me know if you like these!

The first one was started with part of a Scallop Square Bigz Die. I ran a piece of Autumn Spice Speicalty Designer Series Paper through my Big Shot and cut off one strip. You may remember I already used the strip on another card from Monday's post. Also, on top of my sentiment (from Day of Gratitude), you will see the strip of the Top Note "square" I used on another card from Monday's post. I stamped the leaves from the same stamp set individually onto Very Vanilla using the Rock N Roll technique. This is a simple and fun technique where you stamp the image on one ink pad, then choose another color (usually darker) to rock just the edges of the image. This leaves you with a lighter color in the middle and a darker edge. I tied each leaf with a piece of Linen Thread and popped each up with Stampin' Dimensionals.

This could be my favorite! Another Top Note square in More Mustard highlighted with a Lattice Bigz Die Cut. I added a stamped and cut out acorn from Day of Gratitude to the bottom center. For the sentiment, also from Day of Gratitude, I stamped it onto Whisper White, then punched it out with the Decorative Label XL punch and used a sponge dauber and Early Espresso ink to rub some color onto the edges for a little bit of contrast.

Lastly, this simple card with one matte of Autumn Spice print. I made a banner of the Grateful Greetings sentiment and then stamped another image from Day of Gratitude using my Stampin' Write markers for several colors. I punched it out with my Square Scallop punch then matted it with a circle punched from Old Olive. To the side, for some interest, I used another strip from a Top Note Die square in More Mustard.

I really hope you enjoyed my two trios this week. We are having weather that is weird--in the 90's, so I am hoping that the cooler weather is on it's way!

I invite you to use my Website to order your own Stampin' Up! supplies any time.

Fall Trio #1

Today I'm showing the first of two trios of fall cards I recently created. I used Day of Gratitude, Grateful Greetings and Thank You Kindly stamp sets and the Autumn Spice Specialty Designer Series paper. What makes this paper special is that it's thicker than Stampin' Up! every day Designer Series Paper, and it has a texture to it. It's a delight to work with! It coordinates with the card stock colors Cajun Craze, Old Olive, More Mustard and Early Espresso.

I only have half a pack of this paper, since I shared it with others, but I was able to make these six cards plus more cards! You will see the second trio on Friday, so stay tuned!

On this one I used an Old Olive base and colored in the leaves from Day of Gratitude. For interest, I used my Big Shot to cut a Top Note Die from Cajun Craze, then sliced it free-hand with my paper snips. I put two other strips of Autumn Spice paper together, one being a strip from a Square Scallop Die cut piece. I paper-pierced around the edges and I put my sentiment right onto the Designer Series paper, then matted it with another design. I finished it off with a button "tied" with Linen Thread.

This card is bold and beautiful! I used my Top Note die again, but this time ran it through the Big Shot a second time after turning it. On top of that I stamped the large medallion style stamp from Day of Gratitude, but instead of using an ink pad, I colored it with three different Stampin' Write Markers. In the center, I popped in an Antique Brad. The sentiment was stamped on a scrap of More Mustard leftover from a Top Note Die cut. I finished it off with some faux stitches, using a Stampin' Write marker.

For the last card in today's trio, I used scrap strips. These made a simple matte for the "Grateful Greetings" in More Mustard. It's cut into a banner that is anchored with a retired antique brad. I love how these patterns go together so well.

If you have any questions, please email me! I'd be happy to help you create your own set of Autumn cards using Stampin' Up! supplies, which you can order HERE.
