Happy 30th Birthday, Daughter

Our daughter turns 30 today and I'm so happy to have a daughter like her! She's the best! I can say that not only because she's my only daughter, but because it's really true. I am so blessed by her and her family.

This card is an easel card, which you will see in the next photo. The front is decorated with all the same sizing and same ways you would decorate a standard A2 card.

But then there are extra pieces which allow the recipient to stand the card up for display.

I hope you enjoyed looking. Another way she blesses me is that she lives in Hawai'i. So, right now I'm visiting her to celebrate another year of her life. Aloha!

Birthday Card Supplies:

Stamps: God's Blessings (retired), Memorable Moments

So Baja Calypso Easel Card For Pals Paper Arts

Welcome to the PPA #134 Color Challenge! I hope our Design Team offerings inspire you to make a card or project with our colors in mind. You can play along by uploading your card to our website. I enjoy the discipline of challenges, as they really make me get out of my comfort zone. I usually end up liking what I've created from them and knowing I don't get stuck in the "same old, same old" mold.

Here is a close up of my sentiment. I could have put it down one panel, but I liked having it above so I could write a personal note on the blank spot on the Baja Breeze card stock.
This is the part that holds the card when you stand it up. The So Saffron card stock is adhered to the Baja Breeze using Stampin' Dimensionals so that the front panel of the card will "catch" on it and hold it open.

Easel Card Dimensions:
Baja Breeze: cut to 4-1/4" x 11" scored at 5-1/2" and 8-1/2"
So Saffron Flap Stop: 2-1/2" x 4"
Baja Breeze Card Front: 4-1/4" x 5-1/2"
So Saffron Tulip Piece: 4" x 5-1/4"

I used two soon-to-retire stamps on today's card: Triple Treat Flower and the sentiment from Trendy Trees. These stamps are available through May 31st. Also, the Dotted Scallop Border and 5-Petal Flower punches and the Modern Label Magnetic Movers and Shapers Die will retire on May 31st.

Thank you for looking today! I am so appreciative of my subscribers and those of you who spend your time looking at my cards. I appreciate your comments! And to all of my online customers, a big THANK YOU! Your questions, participation in my workshops and your orders keep me Stampin' Up!

Another Joy Fold Card

Hello! I made this Joy Fold card for a friend whose grandmother passed away recently. I really enjoy this new fold in a card! I used Timeless Portrait Designer paper and the card base is Island Indigo. The matte on the left front panel is River Rock card stock. The frame is embossed on Very Vanilla card stock.

On the inside, I used the Paper Doily die, cut out in Riding Hood Red. The sentiment stamp is from God's Blessings. The butterfly and little design above and below the sentiment is from the Sale-A-Bration stamp set Kindness Matters.

I used some clear Dazzling Details on the butterfly wings and I used my Color Spritzer Tool with a Soft Suede Stampin' Write Marker to splotch on some color for the vintage feel. The edges of my Designer Frame were cut free-hand and then softly colored with a Sponge Dauber dipped in Crumb Cake ink. I used Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding ribbon to close my card.

I hope you like this card. Don't forget to leave your comments for THIS POST to be eligible to win my blog candy! One comment with answer to my question per person, please!

PPA124 Sketch Challenge & Clearance Rack BLITZ!

Hi friends! I'm so glad you checked in today to see the Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge #124. When you play along with us, please label your card or project with PPA124. You might be one of our "picks" if you play along.

I began my card using Margaret Moody's sketch. My first element for my card was the Sweet Season Snowflake. I stamped it in White Craft Ink and embossed it with White Embossing Powder. I punched out the Crumb Cake card stock using the Scallop Circle punch. Next, I glammed it up a bit with a bunch of pearls inside the outline and one in the middle.

I chose a sentiment from the God's Blessings stamp set and inked it up in Cherry Cobbler, stamping it onto Whisper White card stock. I framed it with more Crumb Cake.

For the strip across the sketch, I chose to use Whisper White card stock that I punched with the Scallop Trim Border punch on both edges. I covered the middle of the strip with a piece of 1/2" Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding.

My card base is Cherry Cobbler. I love this color combo. I think my Christmas cards will be a combination of these colors. I need to get started on them soon!

Thank you for looking and please leave me a comment. I love to read each one!

Masculine Birthdays

In our family, we have a lot of birthdays for guys in the fall. I needed to get on creating them, so here is the result for the first set. With one design, two different cards were created. I used the Well Worn designer series paper.

The colors in these prints are perfect for those manly cards. I had a lot of buttons due to buying extra sets because I needed a lot of a certain color. What better way to use up some of them? I created vertical rows and tied knots with Linen Thread.

I hope you liked looking. Don't forget about those October deals from Stampin' Up!

PPA116 - Sketch for Baby

Welcome to Pals Paper Arts Sketch Challenge. Margaret Moody has provided us with another fine sketch. How will you interpret it?

Here, I chose to make my card 5" x 5". I snipped the bottom of the Whisper White front off by using the Eyelet Border punch. I put a strip of Nursery Nest paper above it on the front and below it on the inside of the card.

I covered the rest of the front with a second print from Nursery Nest. I then wrapped a 1/2" Stitched-Poly Ribbon in Blushing Bride and tide a knot on the right side.

On top of the ribbon, I popped up a square in Perfect Plum, which was run through the Big Shot in the Square Lattice Embossing Folder. A third print from Nursery Notes was placed on top of the Perfect Plum and accented with a row of Basic Pearls.

Finally, I added my sentiment from the God's Blessings stamp set. I stamped it onto Whisper White using Perfect Plum ink. Before adhering it to my Perfect Plum piece, I matted it with a piece of Blushing Bride card stock.

I hope you enjoy looking. Please leave any comments you have below. I love to read each and every one.

Mojo 121

Mojo Monday is too fun to miss! Play along, won't you? This card came together in a snap, thanks to some new designer paper, a piece of leftover embossed paper and some punches.

I began with a Bravo Burgundy base cut long-wise from an 8.5 x 11" piece of cardstock. I cut a slightly smaller piece of one of the prints from the *new* Specialty Designer Paper "Sending Love" every sheet has one side that sparkles! (This side doesn't, though). It is so fun to work with, very high quality. I used a sentiment from God's Blessings to stamp in Chocolate Chip onto Whisper White corner-rounded piece of cardstock and placed it under my textured harlequin strip. I used the 1" and 1-1/4" punches under the Happy Birthday and candles from So Many Scallops. In between those circles I placed half of a Snow Blossom punched Pretty in Pink "crown." This is for a birthday queen I know! I duplicated the half-circle and "crown again at the bottom of the Whisper White sentiment.

I hope you enjoyed seeing my creation. Please leave your comments, I love them all.

Mojo Monday

Good morning! Once again, I was lucky enough to get my Mojo going early! My card base is Kraft with a Really Rust background that is wrapped in Chocolate Chip Striped Grosgrain Ribbon. The next panel was a leftover piece of Very Vanilla that is embossed using a Chocolate Chip "wiped" Harlequin Texturz Plate. I love the feel of this paper after the ink has dried! It makes the impressions deeper, I think. That panel is wrapped with a piece of twill. The last layer is a Brushed Copper piece of cardstock that frames the Very Vanilla with the Chocolate Chip sentiment and decorative leaf images. To one side, completing the sketch is one more Chocolate Chip leaf on Very Vanilla, surrounded by a circle of Chocolate Chip cardstock and fisnished with a knot of linen thread.

Please leave a comment, I love reading them all!

Mojo Monday

I used my new Embosslits Flower Burst for the first time on this Mojo Monday card. I chose to ink up the die before cutting and it came out nicely, I think. I used Perfect Plum and Elegant Eggplant to produce the color. I like to wipe my ink pads over the plates for embossing so that you can see the swipe marks. I think it looks cool like that!

Mojo Monday 109

Happy Monday and Happy Mojo 109! Check out the Mojo site for this week's entries. It's always fun.

I chose the Birthday Bliss sentiment, which has been sitting on my desk all ready to go for months. It was a "leftover" from another card that became something different than I planned. This always allows me to whip up a card much faster than if I had not had that sentiment stamped, embossed and mounted onto the Wide Oval. I like the dots in the background of this stamp, so I went with that theme, too. I chose the Whisper White background and filled it in randomly with the branches from Always dipped in Bermuda Bay. The sentiment on the horizontal rectangle is from God's Blessings and goes perfectly with a birthday theme. I added some dotted grosgrain ribbon behind my popped up Bliss and the Basic Gray taffeta bow to match the sketch.

Please let me know you visited by leaving your comments below. I love to read them all.

Shopping List:
Card Stock: Whisper White, Basic Black, Bermuda Bay, Basic Gray
