PPA Sketch Challenge - Join Us!

 

Happy Thursday! I was apprehensive about this sketch, but once I figured out how to get the angles easily, it was fun and a snap! I simply cut TWO full sized pieces of Epic Day This and That designer series paper to fit above the strip of Epic Day This and That Washi Tape. Next, I placed the light colored one on top of the blue one and noted with a pencil where I wanted my left (2 marks) and right (1 mark) and bottom right (1 mark) ends to stop. I don't know if that makes sense, but it was easier than I thought it would be! 

Lastly, I thought I needed some dimension at those angles, so I used my Paper Piercing Tool and the Essentials Paper Piercing template for the lines.

I chose to use Happy Birthday from the Itty Bitty Banners (stamped in Baked Brown Sugar) and then easily and perfectly cut it out using the Bitty Banners Framelits in my Big Shot. The Candy Dots below just add a little more texture to my card.

Washi Tape Halloween for PPA172

This is about as scary as I get for Halloween--a couple of spiders! This card was SO quick to put together once I decided colors and what my horizontal elements would be. Witches' Brew Designer Washi Tape is perfect for some quick "stripes" in any direction!

My sentiment is simply Tags 4 You "Trick or Treat" stamped in Basic Black onto Very Vanilla card stock and then easily punched out using the Label Bracket Punch.

The ladies in my monthly workshop made this card in a regular A2 size last night. I always like to have one quick card for them to make before we get to the more complicated ones!

Baby Quilt and Card

Here is the full card that accompanied the quilt for my granddaughter. I used a Stampin' Up! note card as my base. I had a scrap of Pink Pirouette that was leftover from die-cutting an Apothecary Framelits shape some time ago. It fit perfectly on the front of the card. 

Next, I used the Stocking Punch (retired) and punched out two pink "booties" by cutting off the tops of the stockings. I covered each bootie with Gingham Garden Washi Tape. I used the foot and heel pieces in Pink Pirouette to cover those areas. Across the top of each bootie, I used some Pom Pom trim that I got at the fabric store. A flower from Itty Bitty Shapes Punch Pack and a Basic Pearl accents each bootie. 

Matching Washi Tape was put around a baby bottle that was in my wrapping paper drawer. I popped each of those elements into the frame using Stampin' Dimensionals. More Washi Tape decorates blooms outside the frame. 

My sentiment is from Itty Bitty Banners and stamped in Rose Red ink onto Pink Pirouette card stock. I cut it out using the Bitty Banners Framelits. This is a sweet card for a sweet baby. Here is a photo of me and the baby:

I found an unfinished quilt top about 25 years ago at an antiques store. My daughter was about 4 years old at the time. I took apart the pieces (the squares were stitched very beautifully, however they were not "square") and stashed them in a basket. I remembered about three weeks ago that I had those squares and I had not yet decided what type of quilt to make for my granddaughter. I went to Wal Mart and got some pink fabric (two different patterns) to use as frames and a backing and a very thin layer of batting for the middle. In one afternoon, I put the quilt together. 

I am thankful for "Bella", who in 1934, spent a lot of time and talent stitching each of these squares! She made my job so easy.

I love the old fashioned vignettes of this little girl's chores. Especially dear is the one where she is rolling out pie dough. You see, my daughter is a Pastry Chef by profession! I'm sure that my daughter and granddaughter will have plenty of time in the kitchen baking just like "Bella" of the quilt! I hope you enjoyed looking today and I'd love to read your comments!

Flags and Artisan Labels- Just For You

Happy Friday! I'm sorry I've been so inconsistent lately! I've been working hard at getting ready for my daughter's baby shower this weekend and time is precious. So here is a card I whipped up trying to use some sneak preview items and some current products. You can see the Stampin' Up! 2013-2014 Catalog Live on May 31st!

I created these flags by taking a strip of Whisper White paper, cutting it to the desired length and width, and covering it with the *new* Gingham Garden Designer Washi Tape. These are all three colors in the collection and they are SO cute and easy to use. I've already covered clothespins in Washi Tape (you'll see my baby shower items later this week) and used the tape to close a wax bag or to help keep an envelope closed. They add a little pattern to anything!
