Belated Birthday Card

When you are late making a card for a dear friend, you don't just throw one together! This card is the reason I had scraps for the Valentine card the other day. 

Many supplies were used to create this lovely card, but I really like the vellum and the Gold embossed sentiment from Itty Bitty Birthdays. I cut the vellum strip after embossing using the same punch (Heart Punch Pack) that cut out the red stamped heart (Heartfelt stamp set). I think my friend did not mind that her card was late?!

What to do when you are behind on making your Valentine cards? Check around your work area and put some scraps together! The heart in the center was an extra for some candy packets I made for a get together with stamping friends. I had one piece of Real Red card stock sitting on my work space that had been run through my die cut machine using the Lace 3D embossing folder. I cut it in half and placed it beside a scrap piece of From My Heart Designer Series Paper. I noticed that the designer series paper was shorter than my Real Red pieces (oh no!) so I cut a Whisper White strip with the Be Mine Stitched dies and covered up my miscalculation across the bottom.

Verdant Garden Miss You and Note Card

Lining up the two stamps in two ink colors was a breeze with photopolymer Verdant Garden

The story of these cards makes me laugh. I went to On Stage, a Stampin' Up! event where demonstrators get all excited about new products coming out. We get to hang out together, make some cards and have so much fun learning about new products. Then, we are given a list of products that we can pre-order before anyone else! I loved a suite of products called "Magnolia Lane." When it came time to order, I accidentally ordered that suite + two other products that coordinate with it in a way. The two "bonus" :-) products were the Verdant Garden stamp set and the coordinating Garden Lane Designer Series Paper. You will see the paper tomorrow, but today I want to show you how I made my own designer paper by using two of the stamps from the Verdant Garden stamp set!

I started my stamping in the middle of the note card, then went to the right, then left. I think this made it easier for me. Okay, I got a little bit crooked, but I still like it! Then I couldn't stop, so I did the envelope flap, too!

Ink colors used: Rococo Rose (new In Color, avail June 4) and Cherry Cobbler

Some retired ribbon was just the right touch to go under the heart with the words die cut using Well Written Dies.
