PPA 80 Those Were the Days~Vintage

Today I'm so excited because I stepped out of my comfort zone for a Vintage project! You can use the photo above for inspiration, but remember that you don't have to use the same colors as the photo---it's just for you to get started.

I am in LOVE with this First Edition Designer Series Paper (Occasions Mini). It is thinner than most of the Stampin' Up! and is easier to manipulate. I cut my scallops out of it, then ran them through the crimper two different ways. I used my fingernails to "age" the edges. I put an antique brad into the middle of my flower.

Aren't the bees sweet? That is the Botanical Gazette Designer Series Paper from the Occasions Mini.

I am so glad you stopped by to see what I created for the Pals Paper Arts Challenge. Are you ready to go vintage? What are you waiting for?

Supplies List:
Card Stock: So Saffron, Not Quite Navy, Very Vanilla
Designer Series Paper: Specialty First Edition, Botanical Gazette
Stamps: Define Your Life
Ink: Basic Black, River Rock (edges)
Accessories: Scallop Circle, 1-3/4" and 2-3/8" Scallop Circle, Antique Brad, crimper, sponge dauber, (with River Rock ink pad)

Pals Paper Arts #43 Memorial Day

This week's challenge at Pals Paper Arts is "Memorial Day." This is our day as a nation to remember those who have given their lives for our country's freedoms. Sometimes we take those freedoms for granted, so let's not forget what the holiday is all about. I hope you will create something to show you remember, and check out all of our Design Team submissions for your inspiration if you need it.

I used a new stamp set, Itty Bitty Bits for the four round images on the Night of Navy strip. They are punched out with the circle punch from Itty Bitty Punches! How cute are they? My stars were punched from Whisper White and the Star punch, and I used the Ticket Corner punch for my Real Red and Night of Navy mattes. The sentiment is from the stamp set Define Your Life, a very handy set that will always be in my "keeper" section of stamps.

Shopping List:
Card Stock: Whisper White, Real Red, Night of Navy
Stamps: Itty Bitty Bits, Define Your Life
Ink: Real Red, Night of Navy
Extras: Ticket Corner, Itty Bitty, Star punches

Falling Leaves

I had so much fun creating this card. First I stamped the border on the left, using the leaf from Darling Dots and thought I'd end up with a clean and simple card. I then envisioned all of those cut out leaves and a wreath of some sort. Well, it isn't round because I chose to surround a definition from Define Your Life, which is a rectangle shape. After I cut out the square matte in Pumpkin Pie card stock, I thought I'd do a line of piercing. During the piercing I saw all those dots on the leaves and thought I'd use one of them for my stencil in two of the corners. I hope you enjoy looking at my card. Please leave me a comment so I know you were here.

Shopping List:
Card Stock: Very Vanilla, textured Pumpkin Pie
Stamps: Define Your Life, Darling Dots
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Soft Suede, Sage Shadow
Accessories: Matt Pack Paper Piercer, Stampin' Dimensionals

Pink Journey

I am working with PINK this week to support Breast Cancer Awareness. I used the ribbon from Godspeed, which is a military set. I had no other ribbon image, so I got creative :-)  I wanted this card to be feminine, so I used a flowery print and the Eyelet Border Punch.  I like how the Basic Gray looks as a neutral color.

Don't forget that our design team over at Pals Paper Arts will be hosting a PINK challenge this Thursday morning. Entering your PINK creation gives you a chance to win a fantastic PINK package of papercrafting goodies from Stampin' Up!  Please remember to wait until THURSDAY to upload your creation and be eligible to win!

Shopping List:

Card Stock:  Basic Gray, Blush Blossom, Pixie Pink
Designer Series Paper: Sweet Always
Stamps: Define Your Life, Godspeed
Extras: Scallop Punch, Eyelet Border Punch, Stampin' Write Markers, Circle Punch

Stars and Stripes

Our Creative Corner Challenge this week is to have stars and stripes on your creation. Every year on 9/11, I make the rounds to the 7 fire stations in my town, taking them some cookies and thanking the firefighters (some of them friends) for serving us so faithfully. Our fire trucks and engines are yellow (red ones coming soon!) so I cut out this engine using Yoyo Yellow. I added the teeny piece of Real Red for the light on top. The striped "street" is one of the prints from Washington Apple designer paper. The stars are from The Free and the Brave stamped in Yoyo Yellow. The sentiment is stamped in Real Red using Define Your Life stamp. I left the last line of the definition off.
TIP: to use only part of the sentiment, I masked off the last line by putting the sticky part of a post it note over it. Then I turned my inkpad over to ink the sentiment. To stamp it, you just take the sticky note off. Make sure your stamp is clean and dry before doing this!

Shopping List:
Cardstock: Whisper White, Yoyo Yellow, Real Red
Designer Paper: Washington Apple (retired)
Stamps: The Free and the Brave, Define Your Life
Ink: Yoyo Yellow, Real Red
Accessories: Fire Engine Die Cut

Splitcoast has a Technique Lover's Challenge every Tuesday. I've been playing along and learning a lot! This (TLC221) is a "shutter" card and it was easier to make than it looks! Four scores and two cuts and then fold and decorate. Couldn't be easier! I decorated the various areas with stamps, layers, punches, designer papers and bling!
Paper: Pink Pirouette (textured), unknown designer scraps, Basic Black, Whisper White.
Ink: Basic Black
Stamps: Define Your Life, God's Beauty, Oval All
Punches: Scalloped Oval, Eyelet Border, Ticket Corner

CC210 Times TWO

Here are TWO cards I made for the Splitcoast Color Challenge 210.  The one on the bottom is my first attempt.  The one on the top is what I did with the leftovers that did not work with my original thoughts on card one.  The colors for the challenge were Stampin' Up Summer Sun, Riding Hood Red, Kraft and Basic Black or other neutral color.  For my Stampin' Pretty Pals twist, we added ribbon, so I used the Riding Hood Red Striped and matching grossgrain.
