Calm Christmas

(My card is based on a card by Nancy Littrell)

My first Christmas Card of the season! I am going be using Calm Christmas for my personal cards this year, although I probably won't be using this design! It was a labor of love, but too intensive for a whole Christmas card list! Isn't it pretty? The paper just looks so shiny, even though it isn't! It's part of the Winter Frost Specialty Designer Series paper, and there are some special and shiny papers in the pack, but this print isn't one of them.

I used one of the sentiments in the set on the front and it's popped up on dimensionals after cutting it out with the Decorative Label Punch. I used a sponge dauber around the edges with some Smoky Slate ink for a little dimension. Some bling with Basic Rhinestones and Silver 1/8" ribbon really brightens up the front. Inside the card, I used the other sentiment to the 3-piece stamp set.

I love the untraditional colors for the season on this card. I added one teeny bit of Cherry Cobbler for the berry on the dove's branch. I keep it simple, I inked the entire stamp in Island Indigo. I then took an alcohol wipe and used the very corners of it to "clean off" the rubber that makes the tiny berry. I guess I could have cleaned off the leaves, too and then inked them in green, but I wanted as little fuss as possible. I let the berry dry and colored it in with the brush side of my Cherry Cobbler Stampin' Write Marker.

I hope you enjoyed looking today as I begin getting ready for Christmas. It's never too early, right? Please leave your comments below, I love to read them all!

Very, very and very pretty and elegant card. Love all the details you always put in to a card, altho', now you have me wondering what it would look like with green leaves. =) Thanks for sharing!
