Rock and Roll Birthday

Happy Birthday is always a fun reason to make a card. A couple of special ladies in my life have birthdays coming up and I wanted to try out these colors. My inspiration for these colors was a stage backdrop I saw during a worship service a few weeks ago!

On the above card, I tried the "Rock and Roll" technique with the large round image from Betsy's Blossoms. First I inked the image in Calypso Coral, then tried to only re-ink the edges by using a circular motion and Rich Razzleberry ink. The stamp sort of slipped in my hand and the edge wasn't evenly inked in Rich Razzleberry, but that's okay! It looks very artsy! I punched it out using the 2-1/2" circle punch.

Then I added another image from the set inked in Cherry Cobbler. I punched it out with the 1" circle punch and accented it with a Tangerine Tango button from Sycamore Street Ribbon and Button Pack. The button has a Cherry Cobbler Baker's Twine bow tied through it's holes. Lastly, my stem is stamped onto the card using Cherry Cobbler ink. I stamped the same stem in Calypso Coral and Rich Razzleberry, then snipped out a few of the leaves to glue over the Cherry Cobbler ones.

The second card is much the same, but my rock and roll technique looks a little more "perfect" or neat. When I stamped the sentiment from Itty Bitty Banners onto the card, I didn't realize it was going to be on top of the stem. The dark ink of the stem didn't let my sentiment show very well, so I saved my card by stamping the sentiment again on a scrap piece of Whisper White, then snipped it out and glued it over the original. Saved!

Here is a close up of the "flower" I created. I hope you enjoyed looking and I'd love to read your comments!

Nicely done! I love the flower and the technique you used is really neat. I love it! And, the color combo is perfect. I would have never thought how to fix the sentiment like you did. Great job! Thank you so much for sharing!
