Farewell Card

Our son, an Army Reservist, leaves Saturday on his way to training, then Iraq. I made this card to go along with the cookies for the long bus ride to Northern California. I don't know how I'll fill in the inside yet, but I'm sure I'll find more to say than, "I'll miss you!"

I began with a So Saffron Base, added black with scoring courtesy of my Scor-Pal. The stamp of the soldier is on Very Vanilla, using Always Artichoke. The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive onto Very Vanilla. Both stamped pieces are backed in Always Artichoke cardstock. My colors were inspired by a new Army hat that my husband got last week. Their yellow is brighter, but I liked this toned-down So Saffon better.

Ingredients:
Cardstock: So Saffron, Basic Black, Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Stamps: The Free and the Brave, Service and Sacrifice
Ink: Always Artichoke, Old Olive
Accessories: Stampin' Up! Brads, Ticket Corner punch, Crop-a-dile

SO EXCITING:
Tomorrow, 5am CST, the New PPA Challenge Blog launches! I hope you will want to play along. Full details will be on the challenge site bright and early, so come here, click and play along!

I'm never sure who is braver - the soldier or his mother. The card says it perfectly. Wishing him a safe journey!

Beautiful and appropriate use of this stamp set. The touches of metal (brads and jumbo eyelet) keep it very masculine. I wish your son the best and a quick and safe return :)

Hugs,

M

Girl, you know my heart is with you! I don't know what it's like to have a son go, but I do know what a deployment is like as a wife! My heart is with you!

Love the card! Those colors are perfect!

My heart is with you as a Mother ... what a beautiful card.

My Dad is due for deployment in September, it's going to be hard on our family - especially my little guy.
